Munising, Mi is located in the Upper Peninsula and is a year-round destination like no other. Known for its deep powder snow and pristine wilderness, our location puts us right in the middle of the action. We are only a short distance from many beautiful attractions including waterfalls, lighthouses, hiking/biking trails and a huge network of snowmobile/ATV trails. So just pick a season and there's always something to do!
Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore
Sandstone cliffs, beaches, sand dunes, waterfalls, lakes, forest, and shoreline beckon you to visit Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Hiking, camping, sightseeing, and four season outdoor opportunities abound. The Lakeshore hugs the Lake Superior shoreline for more than 40 miles and covers over 73,000 acres.
Hiawatha National Forest
The Hiawatha is uniquely surrounded by 3 Great Lakes (Michigan, Superior, Huron) that afford it abundantly unique habitats for wildlife, plant species, recreation opportunities, and outstanding visuals, wildlife viewing, and scenic vegetation. We know what makes us special; and we're ready to share our 880,000 acres of beautiful land!
Grand Island National Recreation Area
Grand Island is located in Lake Superior, about one-half mile from the mainland community of Munising. The 13,500 acre island's scenic natural beauty and interesting history make it an attractive place for biking, hiking, camping and other outdoor activities. Grand Island Ferry Service has daily departures to the island throughout the summer season.
